AIO@50: PILA, AIO Honour Oluseyi Ifaturoti

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR–The Managing Director of Transparency Scape Insurance Brokers Limited, Mrs. Oluseyi Ifaturoti was among 50 ladies in African insurance industry celebrated by Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA) in conjunction with African Insurance Organisation (AIO) to mark it’s golden jubilee.

The celebration which took place along side the 48th annual AIO Conference and Annual General Assembly ongoing in Nairobi, Kenya, featured over 2,000 delegates across Africa.

The golden jubilee was celebrated under the theme, “AIO at 50: A call for Africa Insurance Renaissance.”

With over 40 years of experience in insurance business, Ifaturoyi holds a B.Sc. Insurance (University of Lagos (1981); MSc. Project Management (University of Salford, Manchester); Associate, Chartered Insurance Institute of London (ACII); Associate, Nigerian Institute of Management (ANIM); Fellow, Association of Pension Funds of Nigeria (FAPFN); Fellow, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (FIIN) and a member of International Insurance Society (IIS) who is committed to global standards of business ethics and corporate governance.

She is an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School (LBS), and a member of the Institute of Directors, Nigeria. (IoD).

She succeeded in managing organisations by ensuring prudent underwriting and investments, with effective risk management, cost reduction, improved efficiencies thereby enhancing profitability.

An astute professional, Mrs. Ifaturoti was the President of Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) from 2005-2007. During this period, she ensured creation of awareness for the Insurance profession culminating in the industry’s best popularity at the capital market.

Abandoned projects were resuscitated and automation of examination results among others achieved.

A past President of the Professional Insurance Ladies Association (PILA) 1999-2002. A born leader, her tenure saw to the resuscitation of the association from a state of comatose, encouraging participation of more women in insurance and creating opportunities for development and empowerment
