Anchor Insurance Target N10billion Premium In 2020 *Says Recapitalisation Process Is 80% Completed

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR -Poised to remain on top of its game in the insurance industry, Anchor Insurance Company Limited on Monday said its targeting to grow its premium income to N10billion by the end of 2020.


The managing director Ebose Augustine Osegha disclosed this at the company’s interactive session with insurance journalists in Lagos, that the in 2019 the company grew its premium to N5billion.


Explaining further on how they will achieve their target he said that they plan to increase their presence across the country and employ the use of technology to sell its products.


He also disclosed that its agency system  will be improved upon by the company to reach its customers.


On its recapitalization plans, he said the company has achieved 80percent of the new minimum capital required by the insurance market regulator, adding that they are making efforts to get ahead of the deadline set by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM).


He further said that 9.6billion of shares was acquired by Akwa Ibom state government through right issue.

The company whose 61 percent of its stake is owned by Akwu Ibom  state government while reaviling its post recapitalization plan, said they will be investing in real estate, ICT and hospitality business. 


On claims payment, he said “claims administration in our company has improved greatly. Claims are paid promptly. “


He added that the company in 2019 till date settled a total of N1.3billion as claims.
Following its outstanding performance in 2019, the company promoted some of its staffs who have done excellently well.
