AXA Mansard Insurance Plc has launched a new strategic initiative aimed at deepening insurance penetration in Nigeria.
According to the insurer, is positioning protection not only as a financial safeguard for individuals and businesses but also as a critical driver of economic resilience and long-term national growth.
Speaking at the launch of the company’s new pan-African ‘Culture of Care’ campaign, Chief Executive Officer of AXA Mansard Insurance Plc, Kunle Ahmed, said the initiative reflects the company’s commitment to helping more Nigerians understand the role protection plays in securing livelihoods, strengthening businesses, and building a more resilient economy
. The campaign is built around the idea that care and protection are deeply connected, and that insurance is one of the most practical ways to translate care into long-term security.
According to him, broadening access to insurance is an important step toward closing Nigeria’s protection gap and unlocking greater economic confidence.
“Every day, Nigerians demonstrate a culture of care through the sacrifices they make for their families, employees, customers, and communities. Insurance is an extension of that care because it helps protect what people have worked hard to build,” he said.
“Insurance is economic infrastructure. It helps families recover from setbacks, gives businesses the confidence to invest and grow, and supports economic stability by enabling people to plan for the future with greater certainty,” he added.
The Culture of Care campaign seeks to reframe conversations around insurance by connecting protection to values Nigerians already understand and practise. By encouraging a stronger appreciation for the role of protection in everyday life, the company hopes to contribute to increased insurance adoption across households, small businesses, and larger enterprises.

For businesses, stronger insurance uptake translates into improved resilience against operational disruptions, unforeseen losses, and emerging risks. For households, it reduces financial vulnerability and helps preserve hard-earned savings when unexpected events occur. According to Ahmed, these benefits ultimately extend beyond individual policyholders to the wider economy.
“As Nigeria pursues greater economic transformation, we must build institutions and systems that make individuals, families, and businesses more resilient. Protection gives people confidence. Confidence encourages investment. Investment drives growth,” he said.
The CEO also highlighted the significance of ongoing reforms within the insurance industry, noting that a stronger and more trusted insurance sector can play an increasingly important role in supporting entrepreneurship, attracting investment, and facilitating sustainable economic development.
At the heart of the campaign is AXA’s belief that protection should be viewed not merely as a response to risk, but as an enabler of progress. By encouraging more Nigerians to embrace protection as part of everyday financial planning, the company believes the insurance industry can make a stronger contribution to the country’s development aspirations.
“Building a prosperous nation requires more than ambition. It requires confidence, resilience, and the ability to withstand uncertainty,” Ahmed said. “Through the Culture of Care, we are helping to promote a mindset that values protection as a foundation for progress. Stronger protection creates stronger families, stronger businesses, and ultimately a stronger economy.”
The campaign forms part of AXA Mansard’s broader commitment to advancing financial inclusion, expanding protection, and contributing to the development of a more resilient and prosperous Nigeria.
