Commissioner For Insurance To Declare NIA Legal Committee 3rd Annual Confab Open Dec 16th

BY NKECHI NAECHE ESEZOBOR—The  Acting Commissioner for Insurance, Mr. Sunday Thomas will declare the Legal Committee of the Nigerian Insurers Association( NIA) conference open in Lagos.


The conference which will take place on Monday the 16th of December at the Lagos Court of Arbitration, Lekki, Lagos and will feature stakeholders in the insurance industry. 


The Legal Committee is one whose role and importance in the Insurance Sector cannot be over-emphasised as they have over time contributed to the review of guidelines, laws and regulations within the sector in liaison with its parent body. 

The theme of this year’s conference is “Uplifting the Insurance Sector: Eliminating the age-old Misconceptions”. 


Speaking on the theme the chairperson of the committee, Onosen Divine Alegbe said that the rationale behind the theme is its quest to ensure that the Insurance industry  is given its deserving place of pride in society, while also enlightening the public on the true essence of insurance. 

She said the committee contributions have always been aimed at ensuring an effective collaboration between, operators and the regulators to ensure effective service delivery to members of the public. 

She explained that the conference will always serve as a medium to equip members of the committee with the much needed tools to achieve the set aims and objectives of the Committee.

She noted that the annual conference which is their flagship will help shape the representations of the industry.
