He said the company has displayed professionalism and creation of value to its stakeholders having stood strong over the past three decades.

In his acceptance speech, Ganiyu Musa said
ICAN has been in the forefront of entrenching professionalism and integrity and I have not seen any other profession that it’s representatives are in top leadership position in the country like ICAN.

He added that “from the formation in 1965, the institute of Charted Accounts of Nigeria ( ICAN) has been one of the bastions professionalism and has been responsible for upholding the integrity and ethical standards of financial reporting in Nigeria.

“My journey in the accounting profession started in 1987 when I qualified as a Chartered Accountant. I cut my teeth in the prestigious auditing & consulting firms, Pannell Kerr Forster and later Arthur Andersen & Co. where my exposure to the accounting practice was second
to none.

“I subsequently worked at African Reinsurance Corporation for 19 years, holding key positions, including Director of Finance & Accounts/Chief Financial Officer and Deputy Managing Director. Aided by a very competent team, I played a lead role in the creation and initial supervision of the risk management function at African Reinsurance Corporation and supervised the design of the Corporation’s investment guidelines and asset allocation.

“I later moved to the Private Equity firm, African Capital Alliance and I currently serve as Group Managing Director of Cornerstone Insurance as I approach the twilight of a career that has spanned some 46 years. I have been privileged to serve on numerous Boards & Councils across Africa during this time.

He thanked the Chairman and the Executive Committee of the Lagos & District Society
(CANLDS) for the honour while affirming that he will contribute his utmost best in helping the ICANLDS achieve its mission and objectives and I look forward to bringing about positive changes and creating innovative solutions for many years to come.
