BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR–Cornerstone Insurance Plc Foundation went a step further in its Corporate Social Responsibility Initiatives when representatives from the company took it’s medical outreach to Kirikiri Correctional Centre, Apapa (Female & Maximum Security), Lagos.

The Foundation also donated drugs, food items and toiletries to the inmates.

Items donated include bags of rice, malaria drugs, Ibuprofen & Vitamin C and toiletries such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, medicated soap, disinfectant, sanitary pads, and sponges to the centre.

The team from Cornerstone Insurance PLC Foundation was led by the Group Head Marketing & Corporate Communications, Cordelia Ekeocha; they were joined by two medical doctors and four nurses, who carried out medical outreach in both prisons.

Speaking at the event, Ekeocha said “that the donation was to demonstrate love and compassion to the inmates. We also had the opportunity to learn more about the challenges facing the facility and the rehabilitative programs offered there”.

She said that the Foundation
would continue to support the Nigerian Correctional Service initiatives to ensure an improved environment for the inmates.
