A father of two Mohammed, popularly addressed as Mai Keke, has took to his heels after he allegedly raped his two daughters in the Bosso area of Minna, Niger State capital, reports Business Today NG
It was gathered that the girls, aged two and nine years have been molested by their father for a long time.
It was also gathered that when family members, particularly his wife heard of his shameful and disgraced act, she shielded him from being exposed to prevent stigmatization of the family.
It was learnt also that when the nine years old girl discovered that her father was also engaging in the incestuous affair with her two year old sister, she decided to remain quiet as the father had warned that if she exposes him, he will kill her.
It was equally gathered that another man living in the area, who learnt of the development, also took advantage of the nine year old girl on many occasions by sending her on errands and when she returned with the items, he will take her to his room and sexually abuse her.
A source from the area stated that when the father learnt about the neighbour has been sexually abusing his daughter, he could not react since he is involved in same act.
The source further disclosed that the grandmother had always wanted the issue to reported to relevant authorities for the father and neighbour to be punished, but the grandfather refused, saying he has left everything to God.
Reacting to the development, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics in the Niger State Ministry of Women Affairs and Socal Development, Mary Yisa and her colleague, Rachel Twaki, Director of Social Welfare Services, said it’s devastating for a father to rape his daughters.
“A case was brought to us concerning a father that raped his two children, a two year old girl and a nine year old girl. And the nine year old girl was shielding the whole thing until the girl was drawn closer.
“And we asked her why and she said she was told not to speak to anyone on it or she would die. We started counselling her and she opened up. And there were testimonies. The wife was shielding their father, and the whole situation further exposed the children to a neighbour who took advantage of it and molesting the nine year old,” Yiss said.
