Activities at the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) have been brought to a standstill as workers commenced an indefinite strike over unresolved demands for improved working conditions.
The industrial action, declared by the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC), led to the shutdown of offices and restricted access to the secretariats, disrupting official activities across the territory.
Early Monday morning, the main gates of both secretariats were locked, barring staff and visitors from accessing the complexes for official duties. In compliance with the industrial action, many workers stayed away from work to press home their demands.
The JUAC chairperson has urged members to remain resolute and maintain the action until further directives are issued.
Meanwhile, long queues of vehicles parked along adjoining roads underscored the total shutdown of activities, signalling the union leadership’s resolve to sustain the strike.
