IGI Launches Publicity Campaign On COVID-19, Counsels Customers

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR-poised to remain true to risk underwriting, Industrial And General Insurance (IGI) Plc has kicked off a strategic enlightenment campaign rallying support for the government’s concerted effort to rid the country of the killer Coronavirus. It is also urging its policyholders and other stakeholders to stay at home to avoid spreading or contracting the virus.

The company made this known to BusinessToday Online that In a series of online communication materials targeted at its customers and the general public, IGI is calling on the people to pull together, cooperate with the government and the relevant health authorities to stop further incursion of coronavirus into Nigeria. Some of the messages put out read: “Your well-being matters to us. Kick out Covid-19. Play safe. Stay home.”, “Join the war against Covid-19. Keep safe distance. Stay at home. Together we shall win!”

The company explained that the campaign was meant to touch base with its clients and encourage them to observe the stay at home order by the Federal Government. It is also aimed at complementing the ongoing advocacy sensitising the public on the containment of the deadly virus.

“For clients’ convenience during the stay at home period, we have ensured seamless transactions for life and general business through our revamped online payment channels. Using their smart phones, computers, tablets or any other mobile devices customers can pay for their policies or renewals from the comfort of their homes. The payment channels are designed to guarantee easy and convenient access to our first-rate products and services.”

On the essence of the company’s campaign, the publicist, Mr. Steve Ilo, said: “These are unprecedented times when it is important to demonstrate social responsibility as a responsive corporate citizen. That is why IGI is joining the government as well as other public-spirited individuals and organisations in this war against Covid-19. For us at IGi, that is our reasonable service.”

According to him, following the outbreak of the pandemic in the country, IGI took immediate measures, such as hand hygiene and social distancing, to protect clients and employees against the disease. “The focus is keeping our staff healthy and safe in and out of the workplace, while watching our clients’ backs at all times. We will continue to promote ideals that foster our collective safety, the well-being of our families and of the communities where we live and do business,” the statement added:

The company urged Nigerians to cooperate with the government in the fight against coronavirus, observing health guidelines and regulations to stop its spread. It also stressed the need to “be your brother’s keeper” by supporting one another to mitigate the alarming impact of the disease in various aspects of life.
