The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday confirmed that former President of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been safely removed from Guinea-Bissau amid the ongoing leadership turmoil.
Recall that Jonathan travelled to Bissau as part of an international team to observe the national elections.
He, however, got stuck in the country after the Military took over Government in the country and shut down all travel routes.
The Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa, confirmed the development while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Thursday.
According to Ebienfa, the former president had left Guinea -Bissau with the other members of his delegation on a special flight.
“Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is very safe and out of Guinea-Bissau. He left with a special flight with members of his delegation, including Mohamed Chambas,” he said.
