BY SUNDAY SAMUEL—The Kebbi State Police Command, in a joint operation with the Military, has neutralised terrorist elements and recovered arms, ammunition, motorcycles and other items during a clearance operation conducted at Gumki Forest, Kangiwa.
The operation was conducted today, Monday, 14th September 2026, at about 0605hrs. Gumki Forest is a known route used by bandits and Lakurawa elements. During the operation, the joint team successfully engaged and neutralised terrorist elements operating within the area.
Recovered items include one PKT rifle with 174 rounds of live ammunition, one AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds of live ammunition, a pair of military camouflage uniform, a pair of boots, two mobile phones, charms, and four motorcycles.
The area remains relatively calm, while joint operations are ongoing to further clear the area and rid the State of criminal elements.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, commended the operatives for their gallantry and dedication to duty.
He reiterated the Command’s commitment to sustaining coordinated and intelligence-led operations with other security agencies to counter banditry, terrorism and other forms of criminality in the State.
He further urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies.
