Lagos APC Slams Peter Obi, Accuses Him Of Jubilating Over Nigeria’s Challenges

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday slammed the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, of making it a habit to rejoice over the challenges faced by Nigeria and the latest threat by the President United States of America, Donald Trump over alleged genocide killing of Christians.

The spokesperson for the Lagos State Chapter of the APC, Seye Oladejo, who stated this through a statement issued on Tuesday, said the party has observed Obi’s “latest grandstanding” over the designation of Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern by the United States of America’s president, Donald Trump.

The state APC image-maker alleged in the statement that, Obi in his usual manner, rather than demonstrate statesmanship, attempted to turn a sensitive national issue into political theatre with his reaction to the US pronouncement.
While also querying the long time it took the former governor to react to such delicate pronouncement, the party said Obi only reacted out of public pressure, thereby exposing his double standards on pertinent national issues.
“When he finally spoke, the nation saw what we expected – too little, too late, and too predictable. His reaction lacked sincerity, urgency, and any semblance of a unifying spirit.

“A man who claims to desire national leadership should not require public reminders to speak when his nation’s image is at stake. Leadership is proactive, not reactive and certainly not driven by online agitation. A Leader Who Is Only Happy When Nigeria Is Sad Real leaders defend their country in difficult moments.

“Statesmen balance criticism with dignity and national pride. But Peter Obi appears content only when Nigeria is under pressure, believing every challenge for the nation is an opportunity for his political resurrection. That is not patriotism,” Oladejo stated.

According to Oladejo, Obi’s late reaction stems from sour politics and heartbreak over Tinubu’s emergence as Nigeria’s president through the 2023 presidential poll.
Noting that while President Tinubu is fixing the insecurity bedevilling the nation, Oladejo, in the statement, alleged that Obi and his allies are feeding on propaganda.
Oladejo, who listed some of the efforts being made by Tinubu’s administration, O said the Nigerian government is strengthening military command and intelligence structures, deploying modern technology and platforms, re-energizing regional and global security collaboration and tackling the economic roots of insecurity through bold reform.

“While serious leaders are working, Obi and his online choir are rehearsing 2023 grievances and clinging to foreign commentary for political oxygen.
“Obi must decide whether he stands with Nigeria or with his ever-shrinking echo chamber of bitterness and resentment. No serious nation is built on the politics of sulking and sensationalism. His recent behavior confirms why Nigerians rejected him – leadership demands maturity, not melodrama and delayed outrage.

“Nigeria Will Rise – With or Without the Naysayers, Nigeria will not bow to those rooting for its challenges to worsen,” the APC publicist said, just as he also called on Nigerians to remain focused on the Renewed Hope agenda of President Tinubu while rejecting individuals who profit politically from national difficulty.
