Leadership Change in Lagos Command as CP Fatai Succeeds Jimoh

BY SUNDAY SAMUEL—-Commissioner for Police, Tijani Fatai, has officially assumed duty as the 42nd Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command.

He takes over from CP Olohundare Jimoh’s, who served as the 41st Commissioner of Police of the Command from February 18, 2025, to March 26, 2026.

He hails from Agege Local Government Area of Lagos State. He attended Anwar-ul-Islam College, Agege between 1979 and 1984. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree in Philosophy from Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.

He enlisted in the Nigeria Police Force as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on 10 June 1994. Until his recent posting, he served as: Commissioner of Police, Eastern Port, Port Harcourt; Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Department of Operations, Maritime FHQ Annex Lagos and Lagos State Command Headquarters, Ikeja; Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Department of Finance & Administration, Zone 2 Command, Onikan Lagos, Area Commander Ilaro, Ogun State, Maiduguri Metro, Borno State, Area C, Surulere, Lagos State, Squadron Commander 5 PMF, Benin, Edo State and 17PMF Akure; Officer-in-Charge, Homicide Section, SCID, Lagos; Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Ogere, Ogun State, Ijanikin and Alakara, Lagos State. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police.

His track record of leadership, professionalism, and dedication to duty underscores his preparedness to steer the affairs of the Lagos State Police Command effectively.

The new Commissioner of Police, CP Tijani Fatai, reassures stakeholders and the general public of his commitment to consolidating ongoing reforms, enhancing internal security, strengthening inter-agency collaboration, community partnerships, and advancing the mandate of protecting lives and property in line with global best practices.

The Lagos State Police Command therefore solicits the continued support and cooperation of the public as the new leadership works to deepen professionalism, discipline, and service delivery.
