Leadway Assurance Company Limited has officially commenced a comprehensive verification exercise for all African Alliance annuitants following the successful takeover of African Alliance Insurance’s annuity portfolio.
The verification process marks the first phase of the transition and is aimed at accurately identifying all existing annuitants while updating their records. According to the company, the exercise is designed to safeguard the immediate welfare of retirees and ensure that their benefits are secured for efficient and timely payment.
The initiative aligns with regulatory measures introduced by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM) to protect policyholders and reinforce confidence in Nigeria’s insurance sector. By participating in the verification exercise, retirees under the African Alliance portfolio are expected to transition seamlessly to the Leadway brand, ensuring continuity of annuity payments without disruption.
Speaking on the development, Olufunmilayo Amanwa, Executive Director, Technical & Operations at Leadway Assurance Company Limited, described the exercise as a demonstration of the company’s commitment to retirees.

The transfer follows NAICOM’s intervention, which included the appointment of an interim management team as part of efforts to address outstanding annuity payments.
