NAF Delights Ogun Community With Water, Solar-powered Street Light

Joy, happiness enveloped Anipupo Community, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State on Tuesday, 26 August, 2025 after the Nigerian Air Force inaugurated a Special Intervention Project by providing 30 solar-powered streetlights, an industrial borehole and a 35,000-litre water storage facility.

The Director, Public Relations and Information, NAF, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, who made this disclosure through a statement issued on Wednesday, 27 August, 2025  in Abuja. said the projects were unveiled in honour of AVM Abidemi Marquis, as part of efforts by NAF to strengthen civil-military relations and improve living conditions in rural communities.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, who was represented by Chief of Civil-Military Relations, AVM Ibikunle Daramola,  said the initiative was in line with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Abubakar, who said that the NAF had a responsibility to touch lives positively, win hearts and minds, and contribute to community development beyond its combat duties, added that by providing clean water and lighting up Anipupo, they are reinforcing the bond of trust between the Force and the people.

In his remarks, AVM Marquis expressed gratitude to NAF for the intervention in his hometown, describing it as a seed for sustainable development.

“When we come together with a shared purpose, no challenge is too great to overcome.

“This project must not be seen as short-term but as a foundation for lasting progress.

“I urge residents to safeguard it and ensure its sustainability,” he said.

The Commissioner for Environment, Mr Ola Oresanya, who represented Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, at the event commended NAF for what he called “a shining example of partnership that transforms lives.”

Abiodun said the provision of an industrial borehole, water storage system and solar-powered streetlights aligned with his administration’s grassroots development agenda.

According to him, the facilities will not only ease hardship but also uplift the standard of living of the people.

Community leaders and residents who attended the event described the intervention as timely, stressing that access to clean water and improved lighting would enhance security and livelihoods in the area.
