Nassarawa State Welcomes Its inclusion In $500m World Bank Agriculture Initiative

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has welcomed the state inclusion as one of the states to benefit from a five hundred million US Dollars World Bank Presidential Food System Programme across the Guinea Savannah states.

Governor Sule stated this while playing host to delegates for the Agro ecological zonal workshop at the Government house Lafia, the state capital.

The Agro ecological zonal workshop aims to ensure key stakeholders have an input in what affects them, as the Presidential Food System Coordinating Unit embarks on the design for the Savannah Zone Agro sustainable programmes.

Encouraged by the shared beliefs of delegates to the Agro Ecological Zonal Workshop as it relates to the position of the state on the agricultural map, Governor Sule Acknowledged their contributions in promoting the value chain in Agriculture across the country.

According to the governor, the state is key when it comes to Agriculture, just as he also added that with the two basic components of derisking private investments and modernisation of farm production, stakeholders are expected to make valid inputs with regard to the review and validation of the programme focussing on strategic areas to be covered

Manager, Impact Assessment of the Presidential Food System Coordinating Unit, Eniola Akindele said the Sustainable Agriculture for Value Chain Environment for Growth, AGRO is a World Bank programme that dwells on zonal consultation agriculture across the guinea savannah zones to receive the input and perception of stakeholders on the components of the programme.
Explaining the focus of the Worls Bank initiative, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Hajiya Munira Abdullahi said the programme aims to identify particular crops in the agro ecological zones of Nigeria.
