Popular Nigerian WWE professional wrestler Tolulope Omogbehin known in the ring as Omos has visited Nigeria after leaving its shores.
Omos has surprised his family in Nigeria as he sees them for the first time in 14 years.
Speaking about his time in Nigeria, Omos stated that he grew up in Ketu, Alapere area of Lagos State.
Omogbehin said: “I grew up in Ketu, Alapere, which is just down the street.
“I went to Maryland private school.
“This is my home.”
Omos, who also expressed himself in his native language, Yoruba, stated that it felt amazing to be back home with WWE.
He said: “I remember going to school and getting on the bus by 6am and coming back home.
“My primary school is around here and to think that I am here in a press conference to announce the search for Africa’s next WWE superstar is amazing.
“It is amazing that I am coming back home with WWE.”
For Omos though there were happier times right around the corner as TMZ shared a video of the star reuniting with family in his native Nigeria. There were tears and laughter with plenty of cameras on hand to document the emotional reunion.
Omos’ family emigrated to the United States and he attended school and college in his new homeland, picking up the sport of basketball which he played for the University of South Florida. He was signed to WWE in early 2019 and began competing on live shows for the NXT brand later that year.
The giant star was the bodyguard and doorman for Shane McMahon in the quickly abandoned Raw Underground segments. Omos re-emerged in late 2020 by the side of AJ Styles and he made his televised WWE debut at WrestleMania 37 where he and Styles captured the Raw Tag Team Championship.
WWE is looking for their next African star with the company announcing they will hold tryouts in Lagos, Nigeria in early 2023.
