Over 15 suspects, including two local security guards, have been arrested by the FCT Police Command in connection with the looting of a government facility in Gwagwa, Abuja. Exhibits such as maize, motorcycles, and vandalized aluminum roofings were recovered.

The Agric Department Strategic Food Store had been attacked before during the Covid-19 lockdown.

The situation is now under control, and normalcy has been restored. NEMA denies reports of its warehouse being looted in Abuja, clarifying that the looted facility does not belong to NEMA.

The Director-General of NEMA directs enhanced security measures at their offices and warehouses nationwide.

It would recalled that hungry citizens yesterday raided a National Emergency Management Agency’s warehouse in Abuja, looting food and other items.

Before now, trucks carrying food items were stopped and looted by citizens in Suleja, Niger State and Zaria in Kaduna State.

This comes as food prices are spiking astronomically, forcing citizens to hit the streets in protest in Niger, Kano, Osun, and Lagos.
