Police Arrest Seven Suspects For Armed Robery, Rec

olice detectives attached to the Enugu State Command’s Criminal Investigation Department (State CID) have arrested seven male suspects for conspiracy and armed robbery.

The arrests led to the recovery of firearms, ammunition, machetes, and alleged stolen items.

The suspects were arrested following credible intelligence and in response to a report received at the Unity Police Division. The report alleged that unknown armed robbers invaded and robbed some residents of Ibagwa-Nike, Enugu, of their valuables on the 3rd and 6th of February 2025, respectively.

Upon the transfer of the case, the Department’s detectives attached to the Anti-Robbery (D9) Section immediately launched an intelligence-guided investigation, leading to the arrest of the seven male suspects.

They include one Chetachukwu Okolo (aged 32), Ogwuche Chukwuemeka alias “Shenkes” (aged 22), Ifeanyi Okoye (aged 29), Sopuruchukwu Odenigbo alias “Jadon” (aged 28), Onyebuchi Ukwu (aged 20), Chukwuebuka Chukwu alias “Kobo” (aged 25), and Mmaduabuchi Ukeh (aged 25) for their involvement in the crime. SIM cards, Identity cards, clothes, supplement drugs and other robbed items, which the owners have identified, were recovered from the suspects.

Also recovered are one pump-action gun, two locally made pistols, two live cartridges, and two machetes. The suspects confessed to the crime and will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, 6reiterated that significantly reducing crime in Enugu State requires the continuous contribution and unwavering support of citizens. He, therefore, urges residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant, and steadfast in supporting the police.
