The Nasarawa State Police Command has foiled an early-morning armed robbery at a mobile filling station along the Akwanga–Keffi Road, following a swift response to a distress call received in the early hours of Tuesday.
Two suspects were arrested after a hot pursuit, while three others escaped, prompting a manhunt by security operatives.
A Statement posted by SP Ramhan Nansel, Police Public Relations Officer, Nasarawa State Command, via its official X account said that “on 27th January, 2026, at about 0010hrs, a distress call was received reporting that five (5) armed men had stormed a Mobile Filling Station along Akwanga–Keffi Road, where they tied up the security man on duty, broke into the office, and made away with an unspecified amount of money.
”Upon receipt of the distress call, patrol teams attached to Akwanga Division were swiftly deployed to the scene. The prompt response led to a hot pursuit of the fleeing suspects, during which two (2) suspects, Abdullahi Umar and Yunusa Isiya, both males of Rijiyan Zaki, Kano State, were arrested, while three (3) others escaped in a black Toyota Camry vehicle used for the operation.”
The statement added that the following items were recovered at the scene of the crime:
Three (3) gallons of 4-litre Mobil engine oil
Cash sum of ₦418,000
One motorcycle key
Two (2) bags
It added that during the interrogation, the suspects confessed to being traders in Kano State. They stated that they lost their goods in a motor accident and subsequently resorted to crime in order to survive
The Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, has ordered detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to intensify efforts and ensure the arrest of the fleeing suspects with a view to bringing them to justice.
He further assured residents that the Command remains resolute in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across Nasarawa State.
