The Managing Director of Rex Insurance Limited, Mrs. Ebelechukwu Nwachukwu has advocated for greater youth involvement in the insurance industry in Nigeria as they are future business leaders and should begin to play active roles in insurance in Nigeria.

She made this assertion at the 9th Edition of the BusinessToday Annual Conference/ exhibition, held at the ballroom of Oriental hotel in Lagos recently and had as its theme “Banking on the Future: Youth, Pension and Insurance Penetration”.
Nwachukwu, who was a Panelist at the event, advised the youth who were in attendance in the event and those who will read about the event later, to begin to explore innovative strategies for deepening insurance and pension penetration among Nigeria’s youth population.
According to her, it is vital that the Nigerian youth understand the nuances of insurance, as it empowers individuals to make informed decisions, ensuring personal and familial financial protection. Also, as future leaders, it is important that they, the youth, begin to invest in their future and get more knowledge about insurance and pensions and recognize the symbiotic relationship between pensions and insurance, as both serve as pillars for a stable and secure retirement.
Speaking further, she added, “We would love a situation where you, the youth can contribute ideas for innovative insurance products, as the insurance industry’s evolution thrives on fresh perspectives. By sharing ideas, especially from the younger generation, we can develop products that resonate with contemporary needs of the insurance consumer”.

“We welcome a situation in this country where insurance will be a lifestyle, like in other climes, as it should be woven into our daily lives, offering peace of mind and stability. This can be achieved if the youth, from an early age, begin to understand financial literacy and get a solid grasp of financial concepts, including insurance, as this is foundational to making sound financial decisions and achieving long-term goals.” Mrs Nwachukwu added.
