The Chairman of LASACO Assurance PLC, Mrs Teju Phillips commended the fact that women are taking up important space in leadership and doing a great job at it.
On promoting the course of women, she said “I am gender freak and I promote the course of women anywhere I go. Anyone that knows me, knowns that is who I am.”
She however warned that there is no shortcut to success, noting that hardwork, integrity, discipline and always remembering the child of who you are, are what will take and keep women in position of success.
She urged women not to be a part of wicked decisions that are inhuman, adding that our kindness should be seen by all everywhere we go.
The President Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), Edwin Igbiti commended the fact that PILA has contributed immensely to the growth of the insurance industry in the last 49 years.
He applauded the leadership of PILA for the new initiative aimed at improving the welfare of its members towards graceful ageing.
The Executive Chairman, Solid Investment Management Limited, Dr. Abraham Aderemi Alo, while presenting his paper “Nuggets for her members Graceful Ageing” said that is a positive acknowledgment of the impactful, mentoring and visible contributions of these Senior Leaders to the emergence of the Oak Tree.
According to him “in dignity and in relative Good Health is a Choice we make along our journey pathways – strewn with hurdles.
He said “uring my experience-gathering ride along a challenging career and extra-curricular activities-loaded path, I have encountered two different Phases of life and living.
“The first Phase was when honesty in both policy and practice was the best policy, as in Insurance when “your word is your bond” and, in Accounting, when the “Balance Sheet truly reflects a fair state of affairs.”
He said glowing tributes must be paid to the founding and the successive Leadership of the Association, whose commitments and sacrifices have attracted equally committed followership.
He noted that the journey to stardom has been challenging and tasking – battling with and successfully surmounting the challenges to arrive at where we are today celebrating, not only the Heroes of PILA’s past but also connecting PILA members to the PILA seniors, as encouragement to current Members.
He noted that the contributions of PILA and its members to the growth and development of the Insurance Industry have been impactful, locally, nationally and internationally.
“Noteworthy is the unchallenged fact that PILA Members, along their mines-laded pathways to graceful ageing, have also been Great Mentors in diverse ways.
“They have, traditionally, been Mentors not only to their Siblings , their Children from childhood, their Husbands through wifely support – lovingly given, their Co-workers in their Offices and, selflessly , to their Insurance Trade and Professional Bodies’ Membership at various levels of participation.
