Troops Eliminate Suspected ISWAP Fighter During Borno Ambush

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP fighter during an ambush operation in Kirawa general area of Borno State.

The operation, carried out by troops l in collaboration with Hybrid Forces and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), took place late Thursday along the Gakara–Kirawa axis, under Operation Mountain Sanity II/Desert Sanity IV/Diligent Search.

Security expert, Zakazola Makama, who made this disclosure through his official x handle on Saturday , quoting military source, confirmed the operation, saying the troops intercepted the insurgents believed to be part of a logistics movement.

“The troops engaged the terrorists with overwhelming firepower, leading to the neutralisation of one of them, while others fled with possible gunshot wounds,” the source said.

Items recovered during the exploitation of the area included two bicycles, three bags of semovita, 200 sachets of salt, 19 wrappers, and 11 bottles of energy drink, believed to be supplies en route to the insurgents’ hideouts.

The source added that no soldier or civilian personnel was injured during the encounter.

According to Makama, the Nigerian military has intensified offensive operations in the Timbuktu Triangle and Lake Chad fringes aimed at blocking the terrorists’ logistics channels and denying them freedom of movement.
