Universal Insurance PLC Wins Insur­ance Brand Of The Year Award

BY NKECHI NAECHE-ESEZOBOR–Nigeria’s lead underwriter, Universal Insurance PLC has added to its growing list of laurels at the Independent Newspaper Awards, winning ‘ Insur­ance Brand’ of the year Award 2022.

The insurer was announced winner of the coveted awards at a glamorous event which was well-attended by the top echelon of the financial sector including insurance industry CEOs, Captains of Industries and Senior financial executives.

The event was held at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suite, Lagos recently.

Commenting on the award, Universal Insurance’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Benedict Ujoatuonu, expressed delight over the recognition said:”It shows the growth and expansion we are experiencing in the company which have consistently in last five years has been on the upward movement both in top line and bottom line.

On product development, he said “you need products that are geared towards meeting the specific aspirations and needs of the insuring public.

“In Universal Insurance we have peculiar products that are in the market that are mostly unique to our brand , this we have consistently been doing in ensuring that the insuring public get what they need not what actually what we think they need. These are part of the things that gave us an edge taking up this award.”

As at today, Universal In­surance brand has an asset base in excess of N11 billion, au­thorized and share capital of 16 billion units and N8billion paid-up respectively.

The fore­most underwriter is a general business organization under­writing non-life risks.
Fully computerized to drive excellence in service de­livery, customer-oriented, the firm is poised to be a giant in risk bearing business.

In his opening remarks, Steve Omanufeme, managing director/edi­tor-in-chief, Independent Newspapers, noted that the company which happens to be one of the oldest insurance companies in the country was selected based on its exceptional performance in the insurance industry.

“Our board of editors spe­cifically embarked on a thor­ough and painstaking assess­ment exercise from which our distinguished awards recipi­ents were selected.
