Wike Begins Commissioning, Flag-off Of FCT Water Projects Today

After 16 days of projects commissioning in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) that ended on July 3, 2025, the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, is starting another round of projects commissioning and flag-off today.

Today, Tuesday, August 19, 2025, the Minister will commission the completely rehabilitated Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant at Lower Usuma Dam, in Ushafa, Bwari Area Council.

Flag-off of the construction and expansion of water supply to FCT Satellite towns will start tomorrow, with Lot 1; Bwari Township in Bwari Area Council.

On Thursday, Lot 2; Karu town and environs in Abuja Municipal Area Council will be flagged-off by the Minister.

Recall that during the commissioning of the Greater Abuja Water Supply Project on June 16, 2025, Wike had revealed that the FCT administration signed a new agreement during President Tinubu’s 2023 visit to China, aimed at extending water supply to satellite communities, including Bwari, Kubwa, and Karu.

He said Procurement processes for those extensions were near completion, with promises of timely delivery.
