Yemi Osinbajo, Kemi Adeosun To Headline 2018 Insurance Industry Conference

BY NKECHI NAECHE—-The Insurance Industry Consultative Council (IICC) which is the umbrella organization for all insurance institutions in Nigeria on Monday said Vice  President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo will declare the 2018 IICC conference open in Abuja.

The 2018 edition of the conference which is scheduled to hold July 8-10, at Transcorp Hotel Abuja will also feature the honorable Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun who will deliver the keynote address and the Commissioner for Insurance, Alhaji Mohammed Kari as the Chief Host.

Chairman planning Committee of IICC, Femi Hassan disclosed this during a press briefing in Lagos, noted that the theme of this year’s conference “Insurance Industry And Financial Inclusion” is aimed at making insurance services more accessible at affordable costs to all individuals and businesses irrespective of net worth and size respectively.

Speaking on the theme of the conference, he said financial  inclusion strives to address and proffer solutions to the constraints that exclude people from participating in the financial sector.

According to him the selection of the Conference theme is fitting into the  Council’s plans in deepening reforms, completing and implementing pending initiatives, engaging with the public and validating completed reforms that would kick off medium term reforms.

He said speakers expected at the conference are: Jim Ovia Founder/Chairman of Zenith Bank Plc who will deliver the theme paper and Deputy Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Miss Aishah Ahmad, (Financial System Stability), is expected to be the Chairman of session while a team of seasoned discussants, notably Mrs. Temitope Akin-Fadeyi, Head, Financial Inclusion Secretariat, Central Bank of Nigeria, and Mr. Olu Okunnu of Old Mutual and Dr. Ndubisi Chinedu would lend their dependable voices.

The edition of the conference is the fourth in the series to be held since its conception by IICC which is the umbrella organization for all insurance institutions in Nigeria.

The IICC was inaugurated on the 13th of August 2013 has been the unifying voice and point of reference for everything insurance in Nigeria.

The IICC is made up of National Insurance Commission (NAICOM); The professional body for insurance practitioners; Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN); The three trade associations: for underwriters, Nigerian Insurers Association (NIA); brokers, Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB); and loss adjusters, Institute of Loss Adjusters of Nigeria (ILAN).
