Ondo Revenue Board Inducts 165 New Staff

About 165 staff recruited by the Ondo State Internal Revenue Service(ODIRS) were on Monday inducted in Akure.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the two weeks induction programme will provide the new employees with essential training and orientation to equip them for their roles in ODIRS.

Declaring the induction ceremony open, Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa emphasised the critical role of public servants in driving government policies and delivering democratic dividends to the citizens of the state.

The governor said it was important for the new employees to ensuring economic growth and development through efficient tax collection for revenue generation.

He tasked them on the need to uphold professionalism, integrity and responsibility in discharging their duty.

Aiyedatiwa highlighted the importance of continuous learning and professional development in the field of taxation, encouraging the new employees to seize opportunities for training and skill enhancement.

“With the induction of 165 new employees into the public service of Ondo State, we are taking a significant step towards building a strong and capable workforce.

“These individuals represent the best and brightest who will contribute fresh ideas and dedication to our mission of serving the people of Ondo State.

“Innovation and creativity will be key in our approach to revenue generation. As we embrace new technologies and methodologies, let us ensure fairness and equity in our tax policies,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Tolu Adegbie, the Chairman of ODRIS, admonished the new staff to embrace their roles with enthusiasm, emphasising the importance of transparency and professionalism in the discharge of their duty.

Adegbie stated the significant growth in the State’s revenue from N10 billion in 2017 to N40 billion at the end of 2023, attributing the success recorded to the focused efforts of the Service.

In his remarks, Bayo Philip, the state Head of Service, emphasised the importance of adhering to rules and regulations in the public service.
