Anambra Police Command Decorates 89 Newly Promoted officers

It was a moment of joy and happiness for 89 officers of the Annambra State Police Command as they were-promoted to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police from inspectors.
They were also inducted them into the officers’ mess, symbolising their transition into the Officer Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.
The event, which was attended by senior officers of the Command, family members, and well-wishers, at the Command’s headquarters in Awka, the state capitalmarked a significant milestone in the careers of the officers.
The Anambra State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, who confirmed the development through a press statement issued on Thursday, said the state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, DCP Mantu Chong.
According to Ikenga, the CP urged the newly-promoted officers to remain role models to their subordinates and to deepen their collaboration with communities in tackling crime and sustaining peace in Anambra State.
The statement read in part, “The Anambra State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu, has decorated 89 newly-promoted Inspectors to the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police in a colourful ceremony held at the Command Headquarters, Awka.
“The event, which was attended by senior officers of the Command, family members, and well-wishers, marked a significant milestone in the careers of the officers. In addition to their decoration, the officers were officially inducted into the Police Officers’ Mess, symbolising their transition into the Officer Cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.
“The CP represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, DCP Mantu Chong mni, congratulated the newly promoted officers and charged them to see their elevation as both a reward for hard work and a call to greater responsibility.”
The state police image-maker added that the CP reminded them that leadership in the Nigeria Police Force requires professionalism, discipline, and commitment to the protection of lives and property, noting that promotion comes with higher expectations.
He reminded the officers that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, approved the promotions in recognition of their dedication and sacrifices.
“You must now justify the confidence reposed in you by ensuring effective service delivery and upholding the values of honesty, fairness, and accountability.
“You are urged to remain role models to your subordinates and to deepen collaboration with communities in tackling crime and sustaining peace in Anambra State.
“We express profound gratitude to the Police Service Commission and the Force Headquarters for finding the officers worthy of the elevation. We pledged that the officers would redouble their commitment to duty and ensure that they live up to the expectations of their new ranks,” the CP added.
The ceremony ended with group photographs and induction formalities into the Officers’ Mess, further cementing the sense of camaraderie and leadership required at their new level of service.
