The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu, has disclosed that the commission tracked at least 1,440 projects valued at N271.054 billion within the last two years.

Aliyu, who made this disclosure at a One-day engagement with selected media practitioners in the North-West and North-East held at the Bristol hotel in Kano on Thursday, also disclosed that these projects- 767 projects valued at N112.737 billion were in the North East, while 673 projects valued at N158.317 billion were in the North West.
“But the real story in project tracking is this: citizens and journalists who flagged abandoned projects made these interventions possible, ensuring resources reached the intended beneficiaries. On cash recoveries, the ICPC chairman said a total of N7. 269 billion and $1.066 million were recovered in the North West, while N43.335 million was recovered in the North East.
“We also seized assets in the Northwest, including 14 buildings, 25 plots of land, and three farmlands,” Aliyu said.
ICPC boss added futher that , “It is a privilege to address you today on the critical task of tackling corruption in our dear country, with emphasis on the North-West and North-East, which together consist of 13 states”.
“Distinguished media stakeholders, preventing corruption in these regions is not just about governance—it is about peace, trust, and development. By strengthening ICPC’s capacity, we are not only blocking leakages but also ensuring that resources reach citizens who need them most.
He, therefore, called on the National Assembly to expedite the passage of the Whistleblower Bill, which will empower citizens to report corruption without fear.
“I also appeal to you, the media, to support our efforts through investigative journalism, holding leaders accountable with facts, and avoiding sensationalism that could undermine trust in our collective fight,” he added.
