The Oyo State Police Command said it has rescue of four passengers who were abducted along the Igbeti–Kishi Road on Wednesday following a swift joint security operation.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, armed hoodlums reportedly emerged from a nearby bush and blocked the road, intercepting a commercial bus travelling from Igbeti to Kishi.
During the attack, the gunmen forcefully whisked four passengers into the surrounding forest.
Security operatives, including personnel of the police, the Amotekun Corps, and Operation Burst, in collaboration with other local security stakeholders, immediately launched an intensive search operation in the forest.
The coordinated operation reportedly mounted pressure on the kidnappers, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee.
The four passengers were rescued unharmed and have since been reunited with their families.
The Police Command added that bush-combing and intelligence-led operations are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
