The House of Representatives has approved N479.508 billion as the 2026 financial plan for the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

This endorsement took place during a plenary session at the National Assembly in Abuja after lawmakers reviewed and accepted the report submitted by the House Committee on Communications.

While presenting the findings, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Peter Akpatason, explained that the approved amount will be sourced from the commission’s Statutory Revenue Fund for the 2026 fiscal period.

Details of the allocation indicate that N124.44 billion is designated for routine operational costs, while N26.77 billion is reserved for infrastructure and development projects.

In addition, N32.01 billion has been allocated for special initiatives, and N20 billion will be directed to the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) to enhance telecom services in underserved communities.

The Commission is also projected to transfer N276.27 billion to the Federal Government within the fiscal year ending December 31, 2026.

This decision highlights the National Assembly’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the telecommunications industry as a major contributor to Nigeria’s digital growth and revenue generation.
