As part of efforts to boost food security and promote economic development in Nazarawa State the Nigerian Army has distributed one bag of fertliser each to 130 farmers in the state.
The distribution exercise, held in Lafia, the state capital, marked the first time in recent years that troops of the Army engaged directly with local farmers from rural communities across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas to provide farm inputs.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, who represented by the Commander of Sector 2, Operation Whirl Stroke, Brigadier General David Nwakonobi, said the initiative was designed to strengthen civil-military relations, build confidence among communities, and contribute to result-driven security operations.

According to Oluyede, the gesture formed part of the Army’s corporate social responsibility aimed at empowering citizens, promoting food production, and fostering peace.
“This initiative goes beyond security; it is part of the Nigerian Army’s corporate social responsibility for empowerment and community development,” Oluyede stated.
The Army Chief also reaffirmed commitment to tackling criminal activities such as banditry, kidnapping, and attacks on communities across the North Central region.
