Former President Olusegun Obasanjo PhD, GCFR has thrown his weight behind the innovative insurance product; Anchor Loss of Employment Insurance Scheme (AnchorLoEIS) by endorsing the product from one of the most innovative Non-life underwriting firms, Anchor Insurance Company Limited during a courtesy visit paid by the company’s Management staff to him at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
This was made known to reporters through the press release by the Head, Brand & Corporate Communications; Mr. Jamiu Osoba when the Management Anchor Insurance paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Promoter of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Foundation.
While introducing the members of the delegation, the General Manager, Retail and Micro Insurance, Mr. Uzoma Ofurum introduced the innovative insurance product from the Company to the former President. Seeking to know the benefits of this unique insurance product, the former President was informed that is a product developed to cushion the effect of the sudden loss of employment with the payment of salary income to policy holder for 24 months after loss of job.
Having been made aware of the product’s benefits, the former president thereafter endorsed Anchor Loss of Employment Insurance Scheme (AnchorLoEIS). He said he will be in the fore front of the product’s promotion and advised all Nigerians and indeed the employed to take this insurance policy and enjoy its benefits as a protection in the event of a job loss.
He thanked Anchor Insurance for the innovation and encouraged the company to develop new innovations especially insurance policy for the elderly and unemployed.
In a related development, Anchor Insurance has partner with the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library on its OOPL Wildlife Park (WLP) “Adopt An Animal” programme by adopting a Lion tagged “Anchor Lion” in the Wildlife. With this partnership, the company has created the opportunity to contribute to the conversation of local animal species and encourage their reproduction and preservation of wildlife which in its stead will further encourage local tourism.
President Olusegun Obasanjo while receiving the delegation, announced to the delegation the plan to insure the animals in the Wildlife Park against the third party liabilities as it is essential to protect the visitors to the park from any unanticipated eventualities.
He stated further, “Just in case somebody puts his hand in a lion cage or a lion breaks out. It is very important to have insurance despite all the barricades and cages we have in the park”.
In his speech, the leader of the delegation, Mr. Augustine Ebose, Executive Director, Business Development & Marketing, thanked the former president for meeting with the team and most importantly for the sanity he brought to the financial industry through recapitalization and the local content act enacted during his administration.
“Insurance industry was undertaken by foreign underwriters on behalf of the local insurance companies due to lack of financial capacity before recapitalization and enactment of local content law during your administration; but the local content act brought an uprise to the industry; therefore we are now underwriting about 75% of local content. As one of the major service delivery companies in the Insurance industry, we want to thank you for this because we are your product” he declared.
